The
centre of manufacturing for CUEL is the deep-sea
port of Laem Chabang, 130km south-east of Bangkok
on the eastern seaboard of the Gulf of Thailand,
CUEL operates what may be considered the largest
and most modern offshore fabrication facility
in the Country. CUEL’s 370,000 m2 construction
operation is located within the boundaries of
Unithai Shipyard and Engineering’s 562,000
m2 facility. The facility has direct waterfront
access to the Gulf of Thailand and is linked
by excellent transport services, being adjacent
to the Laem Chabang deep-water port, and modern
road and rail links.
The CUEL facility is fully self-contained with
a production capacity of over 40,000 tonnes
per annum, able to loadout integrated components
of up to 6,000 tonnes each. |
Approvals are currently been sought to access a further
200,000 sqmtrs of property adjacent to the existing
facilities.
Following major investment in the development and upgrading
of the facility, CUEL today is considered Thailand’s
largest, efficient and flexible heavy fabrication specialist.
Dedicated workshops are equipped with overhead cranes,
computer-controlled plasma cutting equipment, plate
profile cutting machine, manual plate cutters, section
cutting machines, rolls, hydraulic presses, drills,
guillotines and a wide range of manual, semi-automatic
and automatic welding equipment. An automatic blasting
plant is in place, allowing material to be blasted then
primed prior to fabrication. Final painting is carried
out in-situ.
The company currently has over 1,900 skilled employees
supported by a strong management and administration
team.
CUEL maintains an in-house welder training and qualification
programme, which allows it to maintain and operate to
the highest international standards and codes of practise.
Management is provided by a mixture of Thai nationals
and foreign specialists, special emphasis is directed to transfer of
knowledge and technology through internal mentor programmes.
